2022

Gopher Attack 2022 is back...soon!

Gopher Attack 2022 – 16 Years and Running!

2022 marks the 16th anniversary of Gopher Attack. Participants will have from Friday, April 2 to Sunday, April 18 to complete their distance (s)... 18 days (15 + 3 bonus days)... where you run is also your decision.

For the 15th anniversary we added a 15km distance and then thought why not a 5km distance also. That means for 2021 there will be Marathon, Half Marathon, 15km, 10km and 5km events.

For the one fee of $35 you will be registered for all 5 events. You will then be able to decide, at your leisure, how many of the distances you want to run over the 18 day run period. After you complete each event you will be able to input your time on Race Roster.

All participants will receive:

Race Packet Pickup - Participants from Regina and area will pick up at Track & Trail in Regina... those "from away" will receive by mail.

The event is a fundraiser for the MS Society and hosted by Marathon Matters Running Club!

2020 Gopher Attack

* To those of you that aren’t currently registered for Gopher Attack 2020 you may, or may not, have heard that we have transformed the race into a Virtual race.

* We are re-opening registration for the Virtual event, in addition to the 172 who were registered when the race was cancelled.

* All participants will receive a Gopher Attack toque and those who post their results will receive a finishers medal… a Race Roster link to enable posting will be emailed to you once you have registered.

* Registration fees for all distances have been set at $40… those who registered prior to cancellation are being partially refunded.

* 100% of new registration fees… less any mailing costs for “those from away” toques and medals… will be donated to the MS Society… we know that, because of the current economic situation, charities will face challenges meeting their funding targets, so hopefully we will be able to provide a bit of help.

* With the virtual race you won’t have to just run on one specific day or at a specific location… the day, time and location is your choice… the registration deadline has been set for Sunday, April 19 and the deadline to post results is Monday, April 20.

* Regina and area residents will pick up their toque and medal at a central location… timing and location will depend on whatever restrictions are in place.

* For those “from away”, toques and medals will be sent in the mail… the medals have arrived… the toques are… somewhere to be determined… a photo of the medal is shown above for your viewing pleasure.

* Participants are being encouraged to post photos, videos and comments of their race on the Marathon Matters Facebook page. Those registered at the time of cancellation are from 48 different communities, in 6 provinces and North Dakota, so we are anticipating some interesting posts.

* Besides raising funds for the MS Society we hope that Virtual Gopher Attack will provide a bit of motivational assistance to runners when they aren’t able to race.

Please let your running friends know about this… hey, maybe even challenge them to a virtual race!   Gopher 2021 is a go, after your great response to 2020 Gopher virtual !!
