Canada Goose Ultra, June 1, 2024
It was a challenging day in Wascana Park for a 24 hour run! The winds were so strong, they almost blew over our big tent, and even bent some tent poles. But did the runners ever persevere!Â
Sue Lucas surpassed the current Womens age 60 record in the 24 hour run, besting the previous 164.3 km with 171.0 km. Wow!!!Â
The biggest achievements we chose to recognize were personal records. Did you run your furthest ever (in 1 day)? Then you got either a beer stein or one of the fabulous, unique coffee mugs designed and made by Doris Burdon and Wendy Tomyk.
Sue Lucas ran the furthest distance for the 24 hour women and Chris Tetlock ran the furthest distance for the 24 hour men. The top men/women in 12 hours were Stuart Chutter and Chantel DeLorme, April Lloyd and Patrice Turmel. The top men/women in 6 hours were Brian Godwin and Drew Johnstone; and Lorraine Brezinski.

Thank you to the volunteers
It took a village of volunteers to put on the Canada Goose ultra on Saturday. These amazing people got up early, stayed up late (or all night), and smiled the whole time they were helping the runners.
First of all, Wanda Bouchard-Barry - the most amazing, generous and organized volunteer in Regina! She got up early, stayed up all night and kept the whole ship on track.
Our directors are all exceptionally organized, giving people. Sincere thanks to Conor Renouf, Rob McLeod, and Wanda Bouchard-Barry.
The amazing hand crafted mugs were made over many weeks by Doris Burdon and Wendy Tomyk.
More of those all day/night people - Don Meek - a guy that can handle and DO anything. Sandy Tokarz joined Wanda in being there all night. Heidi Schmalz arrived early and stayed all night - she played a HUGE part in helping many runners overcome nasty feet and nausea to achieve their personal best distances.
Denise Harry did a double shift, handling the early morning registrations and the late afternoon results. Cari Bode also handled awards and results.
Photographer Mike Renouf managed to get around the course despite having had knee replacement surgery 4 weeks ago.
The Run Regina crew, headed by Shawn Weimer, lent us lots of stuff and significant support!
Our set up team were also early birds - thanks to Don Meek, Darwin Weimer, Rob McLeod, Michael Dahlman, Conor Renouf, Mike Renouf, Murray Koptie, Michel Turmel, Patrice Turmel, and Shawn Weimer. Connie Kozak, Michael Dahlman, and Conor Renouf helped lug all our supplies.Don, Michel, Shawn, Sandy, Wanda and Al Barry also handled early morning take down.
Our food people that kept you fed and smiling all day were: Loanne Myrah, Jeff Moon, Maryanne Wilson, Terra Jacobsen (and friend), Nathan Lafoy, Shelley Zerr, Pat Eatock, Karen Woolley, Rowena Collins-Huber, Kitty, Jocelyn Braithwaite, Hifza, and pizza guy Michel Turmel.
We had a few manual lap counters - Jeff Moon and David Wessel.
Our course cyclists/walkers were Terry Allen, Karen Harasen, Jason Hubick, Alan Barry, Jon Paradowski, and Stuart Chutter.
A huge thank you to Culligan Water for donation of water that kept the runners nicely hydrated.
