Canada Goose Ultra
What a weekend. Thank you for being part of the 2026 Canada Goose Ultra—or as we think history will remember it... The Soggy Goose.
Whether you were a runner, volunteer, or supporter, you helped make this year's event one we'll be talking about for years to come.
This year, we welcomed a sold-out field of 100 runners:
• 33 runners in the 6 Hour event (9:00 AM start)
• 37 runners in the 12 Hour event (8:00 AM start)
• 30 runners in the 24 Hour event (7:00 AM start)
From first-time ultrarunners to seasoned veterans, every participant brought their own goals, determination, and enthusiasm to the course.
Mother Nature certainly had her own plans. While we had a snippet of sun, the rain arrived early and stayed with us throughout much of the event. Safety was our top priority, and thanks to the cooperation and patience of everyone involved, we navigated two lightning delays while ensuring the race could continue safely. Somewhere along the way, the course even gained an unexpected water crossing—a feature we definitely didn't advertise!
Despite the weather, the smiles never disappeared.
We watched runners persevere through soaked shoes, goose crossings, wind, and countless kilometres. Volunteers continued cheering, supporting, and encouraging every runner, every lap. Cyclists protected and uplifted those on course, our medical team remained ready for anything, and the entire community adapted with positivity and good humour. The conditions weren't easy, but they made the accomplishments even more meaningful.
Events like the Canada Goose Ultra simply don't happen without an incredible community behind them.
To our volunteers: thank you for your enthusiasm, flexibility, and countless hours before, during, and after race day. You welcomed runners, staffed aid stations, maintained safety in the wee hours, provided medical support, captured memories, helped with setup and teardown, prevented us from getting electrocuted, and kept spirits high despite the weather. You truly are the heart of this event. Special shout outs to our medical lead, Heidi for keeping everyone safe and all runners accounted for, as well as Zoey for stepping in last minute to save the day when we were short. Another shout out to Wanda, the Queen of the Night, for keeping all systems operating when our brains were a little sleepy.
To our sponsors and community partners, thank you for helping make this race possible:
• Culligan Water for keeping everyone hydrated throughout the event.
• Ashley + Shawn + Run Regina for providing tents, tables, equipment, and invaluable logistical support.
• Jason Hubick and the Sweaty Yeti / Hoot n' Howl Races for generously lending equipment and helping everything run smoothly.
• Marathon Matters for their continued support, mentorship, and leadership within Regina's running community.
And to our runners: thank you for proving that a little rain (okay... a lot of rain!) couldn't dampen your spirits. Your patience, perseverance, and positive attitudes made The Soggy Goose a race we'll never forget. We're incredibly grateful you chose to be part of this adventure with us. Although we're still drying out from this year's event, planning for next year has already begun. Thank you for trusting us with your goals, your miles, and your race day. It was an honour to share this adventure with each and every one of you. We hope you'll join us again next year—hopefully with a little less rain... although after The Soggy Goose, we know this community can handle just about anything.
Until next time,
Thank you for being part of the flock.
