While the ear plugs are not expressly forbidden, they are not advisable for safety reasons. Sections of the course are on roadways and paths which are shared with vehicles and the runners should be alert to sounds and noises of the approaching traffic.
What will be the weather and the road conditions on the race morning?
Frankly, we do not know. (Surprise!) It is reasonable to expect near sub-freezing temperatures at the start time, rising 5 to 10 degrees Celsius by noon. The footing may include sections with packed snow and some ice patches. It is recommended to dress in layers with a wind shell and take along protection for extremities—gloves, hat, and face cover. The best footwear for the conditions will be trail shoes with aggressive grips but most wear runners. The runners who prepare for and respect the conditions will find the cold-weather running in Regina as pleasurable and rewarding as running in warmer climates.
Is Gopher Marathon a Boston qualifier?
Yes.
Is there parking at the race start?
There is ample parking in the area. The course is an out and back loop with start and finish in the Wascana Authority parking lot.
