Trans Rockies 6-Day Race, Colorado, Aug 13-17, 2013

Post date: Aug 25, 2013 2:14:16 PM

Three Regina-area teams competed in this year's version of the Trans Rockies 6 day stage race. The event travels 188 km from Buena Vista to Beaver Creek on single track and dirt roads, with a few technical sections. Each day, the distances range from 21 to 39 km and the climbing is significant - from 800 to 1600 m. The elevation is the most challenging of all - each night, the runners sleep above 3000 m and the highest point on the course, Hope Pass, is over 4000 m. The results of our teams were:

Michael and Loralie Hoffort, 30:09:52 for 15th place in the Mixed combined age 80+

- best placing 12th in Stage 2 (21 km, 1000 m)

Enio and LeeAnn Ricci (the Dead Gophers!) 32:18:16 for 21st place in Mixed 80+

- best placing 17th in Stage 3 (39 km, 900 m)

Shelley and Doug MacKenzie 34:28:42 for 26th place

- best placing 21st in Stage 5 (38 km, 1300 m)

Note that all the teams this year were married couples. In addition to the fine finishes, the really good news is that all are still married!
