Javelina Jundred, Fountain Hills Arizona, October 28-30, 2017

Jon Paradowski, our prolific ultra, ultra runner, has had another adventure. Jon was running the Javelina Jundred in Fountain Hills, handling the 90 degree temperatures with aplomb, when at about 100 km, he fell badly on some rocks and injured his arm. The race medical aid examined Jon's arm, and pulled him from the race, thinking it was broken. But Jon was not willing to give up - it was only a flesh wound! Jon got a volunteer to drive him (45 minutes) to a hospital in Scottsdale, got an x-ray, found out that the arm was not broken, only badly bruised, and convinced the doctor to write a note saying that x-rays showed that his arm was not broken. Back he raced to Fountain Hills, promising a large tip to the taxi driver if he got him back to the race course quickly. After some fast talk, Jon convinced the race officials to let him carry on. Despite his little break (ha ha), he still finished the race under the time limit.
