This year, Regina had two athletes to cheer on at the Ironman World Championship. Perennial competitor Milos Kostic was back to defend his age group title, and many-time Ironman finisher, Doug MacKenzie, was accepted in the Legacy program. Doug finished 19 Ironman races and has been a leader in the sport of triathlon.

Both athletes did very well indeed. Commentators described the conditions this year as a return to the usual brutal conditions in Hawaii of very hot and very windy. Milos survived sea-sickness on the swim, to pass all his competitors on the bike, and then finish with a sub-four hour marathon. His time was 12:15:41, an hour and 42 minutes in front of the second place finisher! Doug placed 58th in the Men's 55-59 age group in a time of 13:13:03.
